SLD: 1. What's in a concept?

Specific Learning Disorder (SLD) is considered a neurodevelopmental disorder that impacts a child’s scholastic functioning and progress. During this session we will focus on the DSM-5 definition and understanding of SLD, as well as what the latest research says about this disorder. We will also look at the potential implications it has for a child’s scholastic functioning. At the end of the session, you will know more about the DSM-5 criteria for SLD, as well as the implications this disorder holds for children. In addition, you will also better understand South African views on SLD.
